Terre Haute North Vigo High School is building another
hovercraft after a four-year break. The transportation
technology class taught by Mike Dason has started construction
                          of a Universal Hovercraft UH-13P.
Terre Haute North was the first high school in the
Hoverclub of America DiscoverHover One Program, and
has previously built six UH-10F Entry Level hovercraft.

"It was time for a change, and we also wanted
a craft that the kids could take their parents or friends
out for a ride," replied Dason when asked why
he chose the 13P design over others.
Once the 13P is completed it will serve as a recruiting
and student motivation tool for the school's Transportation
Technology course. "The goal is to finish this
craft and then start building UH-10Fs again. When the
time comes and the students need a little motivation
we'll get out the 13P and go for a ride to get them
                          excited again.
The class has secured a $1,000 grant through Indiana
Chances for Youth and has also received help from a
local machine shop and Dow Chemical. They are currently
working with a local engineering firm in hopes of getting
                          the engine donated.
Terre Haute North has produced three students who
have since gone on to be Hoverclub of America (HCA)
                          regulars.
